please please please dont ever declaw ur kitties there is literally no excuse for that shit. if u want a cat but ur scared about its claws there are better solutions than declawing and if u think there arent u honestly should not have a cat

Since a lot of people aren’t aware, declawing cats isn’t the equivalent of surgically removing a human’s fingernails.  It’s the equivalent of amputating your fingers down to the first knuckle.  It can cause severe long term psychological problems.

Also, cats have the need to sharpen their claws.  That doesn’t go away with declawing, it just means they have a need that they are no longer able to fulfill.  Also if somehow your cat gets lost, they are no longer able to defend themselves, and will not be able to catch anything to eat.

So that’s why declawing isn’t good.

So if you want a cat, here’s what I was told before I got mine: “All your stuff becomes your cat’s stuff.” Understand that some things will get clawed up.  Buy them something for clawing, and make sure to put it in the room where you spend the most time.  Cats are social and will prefer to be in the room with you, so it’s best if they have things to claw nearby.

Claw caps are also an option, like everything they’ll have pros and cons.  You can read more about those over here!

I hope this helps!
